Specialist Physiotherapy for Hypermobility in Swindon
Hypermobility means that the joints move more than average. For many people this is due to inherited differences in the body’s connective tissue - the tissues that provide support and stability to joints, ligaments, tendons and other structures throughout the body.
For some people this causes no particular problems, but for others it can lead to ongoing pain, fatigue, joint instability, and a body that can feel difficult to trust.
Many people with hypermobility have been told to simply “strengthen” or “be careful,” but the reality is often more complex. Hypermobility doesn’t only affect the joints. Because connective tissue is found throughout the body, supporting muscles, blood vessels and internal organs, some people also experience symptoms such as fatigue, difficulties with body awareness or coordination, digestive or bladder issues, and changes in how the body responds to activity or stress.
Effective support looks at the whole person. This includes helping you better understand your body, improving confidence in movement, and gradually building strength and stability in a way that feels safe and sustainable.
I regularly support people with Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD) and Hypermobile Ehlers–Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) who are looking for a clearer, more supportive approach to understanding and managing their symptoms.
